Traditional Medicine in Barbados

Barbados has a tradition of using plants for healing stretching back to the period of slavery in the 1600s to 1800s. As a dedicated public health care system was established, the more conventional allopathic methods became relevant. As we see the increasing incidence of NCDs within the population it is important to assess the attitudes towards the traditional versus conventional methods of managing health issues. The survey responses are confidential and we are excited to hear your perspectives.

The Biocultural Education and Research Programme is a nonprofit promoting conservation of local plant biodiversity for food security and health.

The Longevity Clinic is a health institution based in Barbados that embraces a more holistic approach in addressing the management of NCDs.
