Cooling Teas of Barbados
Barbados shares the tradition of using cooling teas with other Caribbean islands. Cooling teas are prepared as decoctions or infusions of leaves, roots or bark of plants with medicinal value, as dilute solutions.
The healing 'Cooling Teas' are thought to improve health status thus staving off illness. Research shows that these cooling teas can relieve oxidative stress due to their phenolic content and antioxidant properties.
One of the plants with a high phenolic content is Bay leaf, Pimenta racemosa.

Chromolaena odorata (Christmas Bush)
